I cannot believe how quickly time is flying by. So, I suppose we will start with the newest addition to our family. Fred!

Fred and Colten have been the best of friends since they were in 5th grade. Due to circumstances beyond Fred's control, he and his 3 siblings came to live with us for 3 months in the early part of last year (2010). Although everyone else left after 3 months, Fred stayed with us for a total of 11. He truly became part of our family. In December we were told it was time for Fred to go home. He left right before Christmas. We missed him dearly. By early spring we were asked if Fred could come back. Sometime in May he returned. Things got a little complicated for a while...but, the bottom line was he didn't want to leave. Finally, on August 29, 2011 we became Fred's permanent, legal guardians. Now, Fred is officially home! We love him. He is an amazing young man, with a smile that can brighten the darkest day. We are so blessed to have him be a part of our family!

My Garden...

Ok...I have tried, repeatedly, to grow a garden. I either start to late, forget to water it...or both! Needless to say...I have never found success. Last year was the closest I have come. Last year we purchased two tomato plants from Costco (LOVE that store!). The Cherry Tomatoes grew like crazy...it was like candy to our family. The larger tomatoes were, as usual, done too late into the season and were literally baking before they could ripen.

So, this year we tried a new approach! We started several different vegetables from seed and planted 5 tomato plants. We planted them in planters built up off the back patio...John put in a great drip system...I turned to my sister Marian for some last minute advice and ideas ( a HUGE THANK YOU to her!!!)...and voila! WE HAVE A GARDEN!!! I am so excited to eat things from our garden I can hardly stand it! So here are some pictures of when it was first planted at the end of February and then some I took just a week or so ago!

Christmas 2010

So, this obviously shows exactly how far behind I am with life in general! Here it is almost May of 2010 and I am just now getting around to writing about our amazing Christmas Vacation! My brother Gabriel, my sister Rachael and I decided that since it would be our first Christmas without Mom being around to share it with...that it was only appropriate that we all spent Christmas together. It was something she had wanted us to do for a LONG time...and sadly, there were always an endless supply of "excuses" why we couldn't seem to make it happen. So, although she wasn't able to be with us in person...there is no doubt she was with us and enjoying the FIRST time she had all of her children and grandchildren together for Christmas!

It was a vacation we will never forget! We had such a wonderful time. We played in the snow, went to the movies (taking up more than two rows I must add), went out to dinner (that alone was a memory not easily forgotten! Imagine...19 of us--11 of them children ranging from 15-4!), went sledding, went snowboarding, played games, had Nerf gun wars, played more games, watched football, ate sooooo much great food, had an allergic reaction to peanuts, and I lost count of how many people came down with the flu! However, we had the time of our lives...and look forward to the time we can all be together again!

Way Behind!

I cannot believe how much time has passed since I have even looked at our blog! WOW, that is embarassing! My life is so busy...but, I really don't think I would know what to do if it were any different. I work full time. My husband is a full time student...finishing up his degree. We are the parents of 5 very busy children, ranging in age from 5-15. We have sports, Scouts, Young Women and Young Men, etc., etc., etc. If for some reason that isn't enough...I may be going back to school.

I love my children...I cannot believe we have gone through another round of birthdays and now they are all a year older. Riggs is now 7 and Colten is 15! I cannot believe I have a 15 year old son!! However, I couldn't ask for finer children. Each of them are so unique and I cannot imagine my life without them. They add so many smiles and laughs to my days!

I love my husband...he is my best friend. We have so much fun together. He is so patient with me...for the most part! :) As all of my sisters can agree...we aren't always the easiest women to live with. Our husbands truly love us unconditionally...sorry Marian, Rachael, and Meghan...but, you know it is true!!

I always LOVED being a "stay at home" Mom. It was one of my greatest treasures! I loved being home with my kids. Not all Moms enjoy it...some can't handle it and feel they are a better Mom to their children when they have a job that gets them away. Regardless, I miss it! However, if I needed to go to work...I couldn't have found a greater organization to become a part of! I love my job! I couldn't work with a finer group of people. I am so very grateful for my job. I am grateful that I can go to work and still spend the day with my kids. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to impact the lives of children.

Are there things that I wish I could change? Absolutely! However, through my own experiences I have learned that it doesn't always matter what I want. Some things are just the way they are. All I can do is try to do the best with the hand I am dealt. I miss my mom. I miss my son and wonder how different my life could possibly be had he not died. I wish I had family that lived closer. The list could go on and on...but, there are so very many things I have to be grateful for. Life is to short to be constantly worn down with a negative attitude...no matter how bad the situation may look that one finds themselves in...there is always something to be grateful for! ALWAYS!

Haley is 13!

Wow...how the time flies! It is so hard to believe that 13 years ago today I delivered a beautiful baby girl. We were so excited! Sweet Haley has been beautiful(inside and out!) every day of her life. This sweet girl brings so much joy and happiness into each of our lives everyday. She is smart, kind and honest (brutally at times!). She loves doing hair, trying on clothes, listening to music and dancing. She has practiced doing hair, make-up and nails on her Grandmothers and Aunts for as long as we all can remember! She is a girl through and through...but, she can play football like no other!

I cannot believe my daughter is 13 years old today. A teenager! I am so proud to be her Mom. I couldn't ask for a finer daughter...she is everything we could want and more! I cannot hardly believe my sweet boy is already 5. It is even more amazing that 5 years ago today, was one of the longest and scariest days of my life. We were living in Rexburg, Idaho. We had a normal day...busy, busy, busy. That night John and Ron had a softball game...I very uncomfortably sat through it with my Sister-in-law Karen. We never went to bed...ended up in labor at the hospital. Gage was born in the middle of the night and was life-flighted out to Primary Children's Hospital, shortly there after. The Doctors wouldn't let me fly with him, as I had just delivered...so John flew with Gage. John's amazing brother, Ron, then drove me to Salt Lake City, Utah to be with my son. What an experience it was! Needless to say, within days he had made a miraculous recovery that had astounded many people. There was no doubt we were truly being blessed...and Gage has continued to bless our lives ever since!

Gage started kindergarten this year. He is so excited! He is excited to go to bed...just so he can get up to go to school. (I am rather certain that will wear off soon enough!) He loves his teacher--Mrs. Cenzano...and she is amazing! By far, one of the best. I love this little boy so very much! He loves to cook. He loves to clean. He loves to draw and learn. He wants to be a big boy and do all the things his big brothers can do...he loves his sister, because she is the only one patient enough to do all the things with him. Her name is Yang Liu. Each student chose an American name to go by, while they were here in the U.S. The name she chose was Niki. Niki is a 16 year-old girl from China. This was her first time to the United States. Her English was amazing. She learned English in school. Niki is an only child...so becoming an instant member of a family of 7 (then 8) was an interesting experience for her. She loved the kids and the kids loved her. We tried to give her an opportunity to experience many different kinds of food. We had Mexican Food and I will tell you, explaining what tacos, burritos, and enchiladas are, when she doesn't know what a tortilla is...was an interesting challenge! We also introduced her to In & Out Burger, BBQ, and Pizza.

We wanted to try and give her many experiences she hadn't had before. We took her to the mall...boy, did she love shopping! We took her to Costco...everyone needs to experience that! She was terrified of dogs when she got here...they were great friends by the second week. We taught her to play lots of games...which she loved! Colten taught her some card tricks...which she became pretty proficient at. She had her first experience on a trampoline. Niki was scared to death. She spent a couple days watching the kids. Finally, we talked her into trying it out. She loved it. Then she got brave and jumped with the kids in the water. You see, here in Arizona a trampoline can be used year-round. In the winter it is perfect...in the summer, add a sprinkler and you have hours of summer entertainment. At some point she was bit by something little and inconspicuous...and WOW! We ended up needing to take her to the Emergency Room! She started breaking out in all of these little welts...literally multiplying before our eyes. When Haley brought her into the house she had 1...by the time we arrived at the ER there were 14. By the time the doctor saw her...there were to many to count. Once they gave her some medications...she started to feel better and was as good as new by the next morning! The highlight of the whole ordeal was when the admitting person, after having explained that she was a Foreign Exchange Student, etc., asked her if she had traveled outside of the U.S. in the last 30 days. Hmmm...that was unbelievable!

She was introduced to the WII...but, I think Guitar Hero took the prize. She LOVED it!! She cooked us an amazing Chinese Dinner. We took her to an Oriental Market, bought her the things she needed, and away she went. She was so excited that the food all turned out so well. She explained to me that these "dumplings" (which reminded us of Potstickers) were only made and eaten for their Spring Festival. It is the biggest celebration of the year. With the amount of time and effort that went into making them...I can understand why. They were DELICIOUS!

Niki was an amazing piano player! She would play for hours...the music was a beautiful addition to our home. I have never heard my piano sound so wonderful! She was an absolute joy to have in our home. She had a beautiful smile, a contagious laugh, and complete excitement and awe about every new thing she encountered! She left this morning...we were all sad to see her go and it was difficult to say goodbye. It amazes me how quickly she fit, so perfectly, into our family...and how big of a whole she is leaving behind. She will be missed!

Jace Turned 10!

It is so hard to believe that my "Baby Jace" turned 10 years old. I think he was more excited about this birthday than any previous. I suppose it is the "double-digit" thing. We were originally supposed to be going on vacation on his birthday and having a birthday party with Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Cousins and friends...but, that just didn't work out this year. However, my amazing son didn't skip a beat--as long as he still got his "date" with Mom and Dad, he was fine. We started this tradition years ago. It was a much less financially straining way to do something fun for the Birthday Child! When you have as many kids as we do...dinner, shopping and movie just isn't always possible with a family of 7.

So for our "Birthday Date" we went to Build-A-Bear (that too has become his yearly birthday wish--he LOVES stuffed animals! HMMM, I cannot begin to imagine where that gene came from...must be John!), grabbed some lunch and went to see the new Transformers movie. When we got home Colten and Haley surprised him with lots of decorations, friends and cake! He really had a great day!

I love this boy so much! He truly brings joy to my life each day. I cannot believe he is 10 years old and going to be in the 4th grade! He is smart and athletic. I think even Colten is envious, at times, at how much natural athletic ability Jace has. More than anything else, I think my favorite thing about Jace is how much he loves me :)! I have the greatest children in the world...I couldn't be more blessed.

Will Our Lives Ever NOT Be Crazy???

Ok...I am horrible! There is no excuse. I have so much to catch up on, so much going on, and even more that should be going on--that I simply can't get to...I just don't know where to start!

We will just start! The first post I need to catch up on is Jace's birthday. I finally got the pictures downloaded off my camera, and I should be able to get to it soon. You see, we just moved...YES--again! Over two years in the last house for all you nay-sayers! If landlords would quite wanting to sell or raise the rent, we would be good! But, it truly worked out for the best!!

We are in the same ward...which we love! Same school boundaries (which only really effects Colten--since everyone else essentially goes with me!)! Same general neighborhood...which we love! Great new neighbors...great new house...great new price! We are very, very happy.

Ok...next step will be Jace's birthday, then our awesome new friend from China-- Yang Lui. She is a foreign exchange student staying with us for two weeks...so much fun! My life is absolutely insane (when is it not??) and I can hardly keep up with it all. So, how about some up-dates!

John turned 40 on April 1st. My dad always thought it was awfully funny that John's birthday was on April Fools Day. Dad and John are pretty good friends now...so, I guess it all worked out. John is getting closer and closer to being done with school! That makes me so happy!!!!! He works pretty hard and I am proud of him.

Colten is officially registered for HighSchool and Freshman Football. That is a little crazy for me.

Haley is going to be in Jr. High next year...that freaks me out a bit too. She is growing up way to quickly. He took his own pictures and I will upload them once we get them developed and upload them to my computer! For now, these are the photos I took when John and I drove up. We went to help drive the youth, from our ward, home.

It was quite a sight! We purposely arrived early enough to (hopefully!) see them coming in. As you can tell from the pictures, we did just that! It was an amazing sight! I was trying, very hard, to find Colten. They all looked an awful-lot alike! We realized he was passing us! So, I scrambled to get some pictures...meanwhile, you need to understand, I see my son pulling a handcart--loaded down with a ton of stuff--with the help of another young man. He had a smile on his face and I had tears in my eyes.

His Ma and Pa had so many wonderful things to say about Colten! How he had been such a strength to their family. He was extremely positive, made everyone laugh--even when they felt like crying, and he really helped to keep everyone motivated to keep pushing forward! On their very first day, they started out after a nice big breakfast. They didn't get lunch that first day...and by later that afternoon it had started to rain. Soon after the rain, came the hail. They were wet, cold and covered with mud! They kept pushing forward--a total of 10 miles the first day. I have been told there are some great pictures of Colten pulling the handcart up "Rocky Ridge"--in the rain, hail, and mud! I was told he even paused to pose for the photo opportunity--that is our Colten! He has lots of great stories to tell. Maybe we will write more later! I love that boy! We sure are proud of him.

Our Scout!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/Sbs5--PkmMI/AAAAAAAAAIM/rSLV02FA5zc/s200/DSC_0129.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312903939436615874" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 134px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/Sbs5-rMU9oI/AAAAAAAAAIE/8YaFdHmyFmA/s200/DSC_0126.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312903934322734722" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 143px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/Sbs5-Mt3OrI/AAAAAAAAAH8/MzIMLrR35wE/s200/DSC_0123.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312903926141893298" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 134px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/Sbs59si-idI/AAAAAAAAAH0/D2xDlacH3BU/s200/DSC_0125.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312903917506300370" />
I don't know about anyone else...but, sometimes I look at my children and wonder what I possibly could have done (or not done!) to be blessed with such amazing kids! Heaven knows our lives are a bit crazy...but, regardless everything always seems to work out one way or another!

Just about two weeks ago, Colten had a Court of Honor. (Thank you for the great pictures Kelli!) I was the very proud Mom of a 14 year old receiving his Star. One more rank to go and my boy will be on his way to an Eagle Scout. Do I sound proud?? I am so thrilled that he has such amazing Young Men/Scouting leaders...their attitudes and excitement make ALL the difference.

As I am busy writing this, my Colten is somewhere a few hours North of us on his Trek. I am sure he is cold and very tired. However, I am certain he is having an experience of a lifetime! There will be more pictures and details to follow...when he gets home on Monday. I miss him already! :)

What A Month!

I suppose one would find it ironic that it is one month ago today, that I posted my last blog. What a month it has been. I have been putting this off for a couple of weeks now, but now that February is FINALLY almost over...may things will start to feel a little more like Spring!

On January 28th, I was driving to class and suddenly experienced a horrible pain in my chest. I truly thought it was another muscle that was sick and tired of me being on crutches! It was a very long night. The next morning I went to school, got things done there, and had a quick chat with our nurse to get her opinion. Her advice? Go to the urgent care. Well, I didn't have time for that. So, I went to Web MD...their advice?? Same! Seek medical attention. I still didn't have time for that. So, I proceeded to my meeting and dutifully and very uncomfortably sat through the whole thing. I then decided that maybe I should go get checked out. Well, to make a LONG story short...I ended up in the hospital with some crazy infection in the lining of my heart. It's fancy name is Paracarditis.

If that, alone, wasn't creating a complete upheaval in my life...one week later--early the morning of February 4th...MY Mom (Carol Louise Bancroft Albert Aguillon) died, very unexpectedly. Between my stupid foot, then more recently the even more ridiculous heart infection, I was certainly not prepared to have to deal with something like this.

Thanks to the help of an amazing friend (Thank you Cheri!) we were able to get every one packed, the oil changed in our van, my prescriptions filled and my hear monitor removed...and we were on the road by 1 pm that afternoon. We made a very, very long trip up to Spokane, Washington. It was something my Mom would have simply cherished! So many of my relatives were together to celebrate her life. She had her three children, our dads, her 11 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many other friends together! She loved those moments like no others!

I am so grateful for the love, support, thoughts, prayers, and many kind acts of service we have been blessed with by our amazing family and friends. Thank you simply doesn't seem to say enough.

I miss her! I miss her! I miss her so very much. I may not have been able to see her as often as we both would have liked...but, I cherished our phone conversations, emails, and text messages like you wouldn't believe. Those are the things I miss most of all. She loved so unconditionally. Her house was always so clean, her laundry done to perfection, and she was the ultimate in organization. She loved me and I loved her...I will miss her everyday--for the rest of my life.

My Kids!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/SX9GHt2Ug7I/AAAAAAAAAHs/GOZJm9iq3AM/s320/100_1231.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5296028785191453618" />
Look at these smiles! I truly feel as though I have so much to be grateful for...and as crazy as life gets from day to day (and believe me it gets nuts!), I always try to take the time to be grateful for the small and simple things that bring the greatest joy. I will tell you...Sunday's game against the Eagles was intense (especially the third quarter!). We were up in Las Vegas spending the weekend with family. We made it perfectly clear to my Dad that our weekend was theirs, with the exception of Sunday from 12-5...we had a game to watch! We ended up watching the game with my parents, my grandparents, my brother Abraham and his wife Chelsea, my sister Meghan and my kids! It was a very crowded room and it was so much fun! In addition to the group we were watching the game with...we also were vicariously watching (through texting)with several other friends and family members that weren't with us in Las Vegas. That made it even more fun! We ate really yummy food (thank you Chelsea for the cookies!)...and as anyone knows--food makes everything better! These are some pictures we took at a Cardinals game we went to last year. I LOVE FOOTBALL and I love the Arizona Cardinals! This time of year is one I never look forward to each year. Sunday, January 18th, 2009 was Caden's 8th Birthday. It is so hard for me to believe that my sweet baby would have been 8 years old already. On the one hand, time has flown so quickly and I often wonder where the years have gone...on the other hand it often feels like a life-time ago that I held that baby in my arms. I miss him. For years I wished that I could go back and somehow change the course of events over those couple of days...hoping for a different outcome. However, I have since realized that a major change of the past would come a price. A price I don't think I could be willing to pay. Had Caden not died, I am rather certain we wouldn't have been blessed with Riggs and Gage. For all of you that know them, I think you would each agree, that none of our lives would be the same without them. So, each year as his birthday approaches...and I get a little sad, I try to think about the gifts I have been blessed with because of my son Caden John.

Jaxson Dee Hone

8:35 am...7lbs 9oz...19 1/2 inches long
I cannot believe it has taken me so long to getting around to posting these pictures on our blog. What an amazing time to reflect on everything we have to be grateful for. I spent some time looking through pictures from previous Christmas's. If I only had all my photo albums...there would be so many more. I thought I would include some favorites, to share.

I hope as Christmas quickly approaches that all of my family and friends find time to reflect on the things, in their lives, that they have to be grateful for.

I am blessed with an amazing husband...he works hard, he plays hard, and his children adore him. I have the greatest children a parent could ever ask for. I love them more than they know. I have great parents and the best brothers and sisters ever! I have nieces and nephews that I wish we could see more often and spend more time with.

My husband is finishing school--which isn't easy at 39 with a family of 7. I have a great job! I work with wonderful people...they are so good to me.

At this time of year, as we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, I am especially grateful for all that it represents. Words cannot express how grateful I am that my family will be together forever! That alone, makes everything else OK!

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours...

Colten Turned 14!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_jtaPR3wevwA/SUKAE8gCmuI/AAAAAAAAAFk/fd8ESB1h5VY/s200/IMG_4190.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5278922535679990498" />

It is so hard to believe that my Sweet Baby Colten is now a smart, athletic, and kind 14 year old young man. Colten turned 14 on November 30th and is an absolute joy to have for a son! He has a heart of gold. Sports and socializing are far more important to him than his school work...however, he has found that the two have a very direct link with one another!

Colten, like many teenagers, is never far from his cell phone. However, with most kids it is for talking or texting...Colten really does not like to do either one! He uses his phone to keep tabs on the Colts standings, watch Football games that aren't being televised, and listen to music!

Colten is literally growing before our eyes. Everyday he makes me stand, with my shoes off, to see if he is taller than his Mom yet. Thank heavens I still have an inch or two on him. He is officially taller than all of his Grandmothers...his greatest joy will be when he finally surpasses me!

I absolutely adore that boy...I could not ask for a finer Son!
(I am working on his slide show...seeing that he is 14 all of his pictures prior to around 2002 are in photo albums. Needless to say, it will take a while to scan them in to the computer and get it all put together! I am working on it--I promise.)

Happy 6th Birthday Riggs!

I cannot believe my Sweet Riggsy is 6 years old today! I have been married for 16 years now. We have been blessed with 6 amazing children! Colten is almost 14, in the 8th grade at Payne Jr. High and loves football more than just about anything! Haley just turned 12 a couple of weeks ago. She is in the 6th grade at Benjamin Franklin Charter School (BFCS). She loves school...but loves the social life even more! She is finally in Young Womens and is thrilled! She feels like she has waited her entire life to be in the Young Womens and to finally have girls to interact with on a regular basis. Jace is 9. He is in the third grade at BFCS. He, too, has a very active social life...everyone loves him! His teachers, his friends, his friends parents, and even the girls! He, too, loves football. He is very impatiently waiting for his turn to finally play in the spring! Riggs is almost 6. He is in kindergarten at BFCS and LOVES being in school! He loves to play video games, playing with his toys, playing with his big brother Jace, and he loves to sing! Gage is 4. He is absolutely adorable. He keeps us extemely busy 24 hours a day! He talks constantly...and is forever asking questions! He loves to help with ANYTHING! Our family simply wouldn't be the same without him!
